Body Control Is Actually Tuning | How Deep Muscles Naturally Engage

Deep muscles (often called the "core") are frequently described as something you should consciously activate. But for many people, that advice raises more questions than answers. How do you actually use them? How do you know if they're working? Can they even be controlled directly? In this video, I explore a different perspective. Rather than trying to consciously activate deep muscles, I discuss the idea that they naturally emerge when the body's internal environment is well organized. From this viewpoint, body control is less about controlling individual muscles and more about organizing posture, breathing, balance, attention, and perception so the nervous system can choose efficient movement strategies on its own. I also introduce the idea of body control as a process of continuous "tuning" rather than searching for a single perfect posture or technique. Topics covered in this video include: • Why "use your deep muscles" is often difficult to apply • Why deep muscles may not be directly controllable • Body organization versus muscle control • Why "doing nothing" can be an important part of practice • Using minimal internal anchors during observation • The radio tuning analogy for body awareness • How cognition influences body control • Why comfort is better understood as a reference point for tuning—not the ultimate goal The ideas presented here are based on my own ongoing exploration of body awareness, movement, and cognition. They are offered as a conceptual framework for investigation rather than as established scientific conclusions or medical advice. If you're interested in body awareness, movement, posture, and the relationship between cognition and physical experience, I hope this perspective gives you something new to explore.
