The life of a high-level athlete is a constant struggle with sacrifices. The life of a high-level athlete's coach is a struggle to manage the sacrifices their athletes make. The paradox of the "human" coach is that they want their athlete to perform at the highest level now, but they also obviously want to ensure their athlete doesn't have a terrible post-career. So, can we really prevent a high-level athlete from becoming a miserable old man? 👴🏻 Today on WTH, we're joined by Benjamin Floris, sports coach and physical trainer, to discuss the physical longevity of a high-level athlete. And you know what? I have tons of questions! This episode ties in somewhat with the one where we talked about the difference between eating to perform and eating to be healthy—ultimately, two different things. A topic close to today's discussion… but on a physical level! So how do we make the machine last as long as possible? How does the strength and conditioning coach play a role in protecting their athlete? What pressures influence an athlete's decisions?
