【4巡目お遍路】【逆打ち】DAY34(2024/12/24)大坂峠、よここ峠で心折れる

Day 34 (2024/12/24) 08 hours 31 minutes 32.88km 50,056 steps 0641 Start Asamaya 1351 Lunch (Yasuragi) (30.41km) 1424 23rd Yakuoji Temple (31.11km) 1511 Goal m4 (32.88km) -- GARMIN https://connect.garmin.com/modern/act... I left about 2 hours earlier than the previous day. The distance was not much different from yesterday, but I woke up so I set off. I decided to take it easier than usual. As soon as I set off, I had to take a detour because there was construction work. There's a lot of construction work at the end of the year. At the end of December, it gets quite cold in the morning. Naturally, my speed increases. While walking along the pilgrimage route I had never walked before, I arrived at the special 4th temple, Saba Daishi. Since I was there, I decided to pay my respects. Since it was early in the morning, there was no one there, including the temple staff. I walked along the pilgrimage route behind Saba Daishi. This is an old road. I then walked along a side road I had never walked before, along the coast, and arrived at Osaka Pass on the old pilgrimage route. I was suddenly out of breath at the steep slope. But I soon got excited at the spectacular view spot! Below me was the coastline I had been walking along, and the weather was good, so I was able to enjoy the best view! Osaka Pass was quite tough. I was glad I could walk because I pulled a muscle just before the last time. After taking a break at a convenience store, I met a pilgrim with a handcart. This was the first time I had seen a pilgrim with a handcart since Hiroyuki-san on DAY 07. I was pushing a load that was surprisingly heavy. It's amazing how many people there are. Next, I walked up Sambazaka. There were signs here and there, so it was easy to follow. However, after checking Google Maps, I decided that there was no path, and decided to turn back to the national highway halfway through. In the end, it seemed that I found the path if I trusted the signs and continued on. I'd like to try that next time. I was pretty tired at Osaka Pass, but I had time to spare, so I decided to walk the Yoko Pass route instead of Hiwasa Tunnel. Wow, it was really tough. The path was bumpy and full of stones, making it difficult to walk, and the soles of my feet hurt terribly. The path was also difficult to follow in parts, and I couldn't go as I wanted. The climb was fine, but the descent was particularly bad, and I nearly cried. Trekking shoes would have been fine, but my old walking shoes were just too much. It's not something you can just go on without doing proper research. I regret it. I think I should have walked it at least once. But even so, there is always a pilgrim's sign from Fukui guide on any route. As expected. I completely lost my legs and energy at Yokoko Pass. I managed to walk to Hiwasa by inertia, but I couldn't move forward as I wanted. It was cold in the shade and hot in the sun. As I walked, there was construction work again and I had to take a detour. I even thought about calling a taxi. I somehow managed to reach Hiwasa and first had lunch! I had Yakuyoke udon as I did last time. Feeling a little better, I visited Yakuoji Temple. It's been a while since I've been to a temple! And it's the first temple of the Awa Hatsushin Dojo. I stayed at B&B m4 in Hiwasa. It was my first time here. It's an old-style guesthouse with breakfast included. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable! The host was also very polite and kind, and I enjoyed talking to him about various things. Because it was Christmas Eve, we were treated to cake! It seems that this was the first time a pilgrim had booked through Airbnb, and it's true that Airbnb fees (699 yen) are expensive, so it's best to make a reservation over the phone! Tomorrow we're going to Byodo-ji Temple and Tairyu-ji Temple!
