The last day of the pilgrimage, the last pilgrimage of 2024. The third pilgrimage started on 12/18 and took 9 days. We took the ropeway up to Tairyuji Temple and first went down towards Kakurinji Temple. It looked like it was going to rain but it didn't, but the forecast said it would be sunny so it should be fine. After a smooth descent, we continued climbing towards Kakurin-ji Temple. When walking in the normal direction, I remember always having a hard time descending after visiting Kakurin-ji Temple. When walking in the reverse direction, we had to climb up there. As expected, it was pretty tough. It was all stairs, and many of them had high steps. I only had one bottle of Pocari Sweat to drink, but I wonder if that would be enough? There are no vending machines at Kakurin-ji Temple, so I had to get it to Katsuura after descending from Kakurin-ji Temple. It took two hours from Tairyu-ji Temple to reach Kakurin-ji Temple. The sculptures at the main hall and the three-story pagoda at Kakurin-ji Temple are unique and interesting. I thought about taking a break, but my sweat had cooled and it was cold, so I set off right away. I struggled with the steep descent, but was relieved by the spectacular views along the way. It was fine up to Mizunomi Daishi, but after that I struggled with the steep slope without any steps. By the time I finished descending, I was pretty exhausted, and my legs were tired. Next, I decided to walk along the Kushibuchi Shinnendo Trail to Tateeji Temple, which I had not yet done. Right away, I couldn't find the entrance to Kushibuchi Shinnendo. There were no marks when walking backwards, so it was completely impossible to find. I wasn't sure if I was on the right track, but I looked at the map and followed a path that looked like it might be the right one. In the end, it seems I was mostly on the right track. Walking along a new path while getting lost and confused, it felt like I was back to basics. Kushibuchi Shinnendo was a lovely road. I like it because there are hardly any cars on it. It's a bit hilly, but there are many quaint places. The bamboo forest in particular was beautiful! I arrived at Tateeji Temple later than planned and paid my respects. Finished at the nearby JR Tatee Station. A lot happened, but I'm grateful that I made it this far. I wanted to complete the pilgrimage before the year ended for my grandmother, who is still trying her best to live, but it didn't work out. It's so pathetic, I'm so broken. The next milestone restart was scheduled for February after my ear surgery, but various things happened and my grandmother passed away, so there was no need to rush. After completing the pilgrimage for the fourth time, I can apply to become a leader, so I'll try to complete the pilgrimage by the summer this year, when I can apply! So I decided to restart in June.
