LYON além do turismo | Andiamo França! 🇫🇷

Lyon is not just about historic centers, "traboules," old churches, and elegant riverbanks. In this video, we walk through Lyon Confluence, one of the most modern and surprising areas of the city, at the meeting point of the Saône and Rhône rivers. We always feel the need to explore a city beyond its most obvious historical side. A city is made of many pieces: ancient heritage, working-class neighborhoods, train stations, rivers, parks, urban projects, areas that went wrong, and those trying to rebuild themselves. And Confluence is precisely one of those essential pieces for understanding Lyon today. Starting from Gare de Lyon-Perrache, we follow a region long marked by heavy infrastructure, railway tracks, highways, old docks, industrial activities, and sparsely inhabited zones. Little by little, this southern part of the Presqu'île has been redesigned to become a contemporary neighborhood, with public transport, bike lanes, wide sidewalks, green areas, housing, offices, shops, sports facilities, and cultural spaces. Lyon Confluence is an interesting example of urban redevelopment. It is not just a neighborhood of modern buildings. It is an attempt to transform a former logistics and industrial area into a new piece of the city, without completely erasing its memory. The official urban project aims to expand the center of Lyon between the Rhône and Saône rivers, showing how the city tries to grow inward, repurposing spaces that were once unwelcoming. During our walk, we pass by the Patinoire Charlemagne, inaugurated in the late 1960s, the newest sector of the neighborhood, areas still undergoing transformation, and the Caterpilou, a large caterpillar-shaped play structure inaugurated in 2024. We also reach the tip of the peninsula, where the rivers meet and where old railway tracks still remind us of this territory's former port function. These points appear in the video as part of Confluence's urban narrative, encompassing mobility, leisure, industrial memory, and new ways of inhabiting the city. The great landmark of the route is the Musée des Confluences, inaugurated in 2014 and designed by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. Made of steel and glass, with a deconstructivist language, the museum functions as architecture, square, passageway, and symbol of a Lyon that looks to the future without ceasing to dialogue with its urban history. According to the firm's own data, the building is 190 meters long, 90 meters wide, and 41 meters high. This is a more technical video, but also very revealing. Because Lyon Confluence helps us understand how a city can rebuild itself: between rivers, tracks, glass, industrial memory, public transport, and everyday life. 📅 Video recorded in December 2025. In December, Lyon typically has cold average temperatures, with daily highs dropping from about 8°C to 7°C throughout the month. 🎯 BECOME AN ANDIAMO MEMBER (SPECIAL FEATURE!)
