In this video, we conclude our first season in Lyon, one of the cities that surprised us most in France. We walked along the Presqu’île, passed by the old Hôtel-Dieu, now transformed into a vibrant city space, visited the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, explored the atmosphere of Vieux Lyon, and ended the experience with an evening of French gastronomy. Lyon has a rare strength: it blends history, urban life, heritage, commerce, rivers, hills, bookstores, traditional restaurants, and a constant feeling of being a city in motion. In this episode, we show a Lyon that doesn't just fit into postcards. An elegant, functional, ancient, and contemporary city all at once. We also talk about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, born in Lyon, in a special moment involving the book The Little Prince, and we sample classic French dishes such as escargot, onion soup, and traditional desserts. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral began construction in the 12th century and was completed in the 15th century, featuring Romanesque and Gothic elements, and preserving one of the oldest astronomical clocks in Europe. Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) is part of an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and encompasses one of the most important Renaissance ensembles in France. Lyon is the third largest city in France by municipal population, with approximately 525,000 inhabitants in the legal population as of 2026, according to INSEE. The city belongs to the Métropole de Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and is located about 470 km from Paris. Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport is the city's main airport and is connected to the city center by the Rhônexpress, which links the airport to the Part-Dieu area in about 29 minutes. 📅 Images recorded in December 2025.
