Sun Salutations For Beginners | 3 Lunge Variations
Lunge salutations are a great way to wake up in the morning. I’ll lead you through 3 types of lunge salutations involving a Simple Lunge, Crescent Lunge, and Low Lunge. Follow along for a total body morning yoga flow to wake up your body, loosen stiffness from sleeping, and improve your energy and mood in the morning. If you already practice yoga with me, you’ll know I’m a big fan of lunge salutations. Sun salutations in general are a great way to warm up, strengthen and stretch the body. Including lunge postures in the flow means more emphasis on opening the front body, including the front of the hips, or the hip flexors. We tend to spend a lot of time sitting in chairs in a kind of folded, closed position. Even in yoga classes, you’ll often do more forward folds than postures where you’re opening and stretching the front body.
