In this lesson, focusing on verses 50-55 of Surah Al-An'am, we concentrate on the human limitations of prophethood and the absolute guidance of divine revelation. We examine the Prophet's (peace be upon him) stance – "I do not claim that the treasures of Allah are with me, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I claim to be an angel" – and his sensitivity to only following what was revealed to him, from a divine perspective. Starting from the truth that the blind and the seeing are not equal, we reflect on the importance of warning sincere believers who fear being gathered before their Lord and who have no friend or intercessor other than Him. We also consider the principle of not excluding the weak and poor believers who, despising the leading figures of Mecca, prayed to Allah morning and evening solely for His pleasure; the use of social status as a means of testing; and the glad tidings of divine mercy for those who, even after committing sins, later repent and reform themselves. Interpretation of verses 50-55 of Surah Al-An'am (Diyanet Religious Affairs Directorate) • Verse 50: Say, "I do not say to you, 'The treasures of Allah are with me,' nor do I know the unseen. Nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Are the blind and the seeing equal? ​​Do you not reflect?" • Verse 51: Warn those who fear being gathered before their Lord with it (the Qur'an). For them there is no protector or intercessor besides Allah. Perhaps they will be mindful. • Verse 52: Do not drive away those who pray to their Lord morning and evening, seeking His pleasure. You have no responsibility for their reckoning, nor do they have any responsibility for yours, so that you should drive them away and become one of the wrongdoers. • Verse 53: Thus We tested some of them with others so that they might say, "Has Allah bestowed His favor upon some of us?" And is not Allah bestowed His favor upon those who are grateful? • Verse 54: When those who believe in Our verses come to you, say to them, "Peace be upon you! Your Lord has ordained mercy upon Himself.
