Raw and Candid | EP 14: The Jesuits and the Church in Mindanao

In celebration of July Ignatian Month and the closing of the landmark Ignatian Year, Jesuit Communications Foundation and Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM present: "Raw and Candid: Philippine Jesuit History as told by Jesuit Legends"; a series of never-before-seen interviews with legendary pillars of the Philippine Jesuit Province as they speak about the history of the Jesuits in the Philippines. Featured in this video is Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, SJ. He entered the Society of Jesus on 30 May 1963 and was ordained to the priesthood on 16 April 1973. After finishing his doctoral studies in Development at the University of Wisconsin in the USA, he was assigned to teach at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City, where he would later serve in various administrative roles including Vice-President and Dean. In 1996, Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Prelate of Ipil, Zamboanga. Later, in 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. In these critical roles, Ledesma championed the Church’s work on inter-religious dialogue.
