How a Canadian dispatch rider delivered messages in Holland in WWII

Meet Max Dankner, who turned 95 in 2020, is originally from Montreal, Canada. He was a dispatch rider with the 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards during WWII. They were a reconnaissance outfit and served in the invasion of Italy 1943. Dankner was wounded there but recovered to rejoin the regiment to 1945 in Holland. In this video, with author Ellin Bessner, Dankner describes his war experiences as a dispatch rider (DR), especuially about the dangerous aspects of his work. Dankner received his training at Camp Farhnam, outside of St. Jean, south of Montreal, before being shipped overseas to England for more training. He drove a Norton bike. Dispatch riders delivered battle orders, maps, intelligence reports and situation updates...from headquarters to officers and other units -- many hours of hard driving away. They also delivered. medical supplies, and parts, and even helped located downed airmen after a crash.
