Vaudou, Islam et Christianisme : Bienvenue au BÉNIN. | Film-Documentaire

For this new chapter of Motherland, after a three-year hiatus, I decided to offer you something different. A more accomplished documentary, which I crafted with great care, especially in terms of shots and aesthetics, but also in terms of the narrative. This time, instead of making a comprehensive video about the country I'm visiting, I decided to choose a specific theme that would be the central theme of my documentary. And for Benin, I chose: spirituality. Because that's what struck me most about Benin. This country is known for its voodoo tradition, long demonized and ridiculed; it is actually a religion in its own right. But above all, it coexists in harmony with all the other religions present in the country: Islam and Christianity. In this country, where everyone has faith, or even several (I met people who identified as Muslim, Christian, or Voodoo!), a spirit of coexistence and peace permeates society. Through this documentary, I wanted to understand how these beliefs intertwine, how they shape a people's identity, and how they influence their way of seeing the world and hoping. Motherland Benin is therefore a journey to the crossroads of faiths, between the invisible, the everyday, and, as always: the human.
