L'esclavage dans les mondes musulmans

"Why don't you talk about the Arab-Muslim slave trade?" We've read this comment hundreds of times. Today, we're responding. Slavery existed in the Muslim world. Slavery existed in Africa. This is an indisputable historical fact. But behind these facts lie complex realities that cannot be easily summarized. In this video, we tackle this subject, often presented as "taboo." From the Eastern slave trades to intra-African slavery, we deconstruct the mechanisms of domination, the role of religion, and the invention of racism. We analyze, in particular, the emergence of the first racist theories and how the arrival of firearms completely transformed the African continent.
