A forced concubine in her teens, chosen from among some twenty others and compelled into marriage, Catherine Bokassa served as a foil for her emperor of a husband, but she also benefited from his largesse. In Zaire, Bobi and her twin sister, his wife and official mistress, found nothing wrong with the atrocities committed by the self-proclaimed Marshal Mobutu.
