La reina de Norteamérica que nunca fue | Concha Buika | TEDxPuntaCana
Between song and poetry, this phenomenal artist envelops us in a quest for who we are, why we have been, and the greatness of being. Born into a deeply traditional family, where the Boobe heritage—an African ethnic group of the Bantu branch, originally from Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea—succeeded the demands of a culture that did not consider concepts such as divergence, diversity, or multiculturalism. Later, she was raised in Spain with a terrifying sense of not belonging, as every time she tried to adapt to either of the two cultures, she felt rejected by the native inhabitants. A multidisciplinary, multi-award-winning artist, she is self-taught, a singer-songwriter, poet, and producer of her own compositions in diverse musical styles. Her music transcends borders; each of her compositions contains elements from various continents. A Mallorcan of Bubi (Equatorial Guinea) origin, she is the fourth child of two world music lovers. Buika embraces almost every musical genre, every nation, every culture. In every interview she participates in, she encourages us to unite. When she speaks, she exudes pure calm and peace, freedom and joy, soul and passion. She is a versatile artist and a multicultural woman who loves every corner of the world. She has traveled with her music to many places, from Asia to Europe, from Africa to the Americas and even Oceania. After her performance and departure, Buika feels she is leaving a piece of herself behind and taking with her a piece of the culture that has enveloped her and that she has celebrated ever since. She is a child of fusion and improvisation; both concepts are very present in every creation and performance throughout her years of musical career, both in her live shows and in her studio compositions. As interesting as it is unusual, a melting pot of all kinds of genres has enriched her compositions and her repertoire, from jazz, Latin, pop, soul, reggae, flamenco feeling, almost all styles of rumba, and different African genres. Buika sings everything from rancheras to Latin boleros. “Buika World Tour 2023” has all the right elements to be as spectacular as it is elegant. She will be releasing 12 singles over the next 12 months. All of them are her own compositions. She plans to collaborate with extraordinary artists and will also sing a song by Los Panchos. And she will continue to delight us with her extraordinary tour, “Buika Symphonic Experience 2023.” Awards and Recognitions Gold Record ~Spain Gold Record ~Colombia Latin GRAMMY ~ USA 1st Music Awards ~ Spain Antonio Carlos Jobim Creators Award ~Montreal 2nd Music Awards ~ Spain Luna Award, National Auditorium ~Mexico Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts ~Spain.
