This video shows the arrival, departure, and passing of trains at Takatsuki Station on the JR Kyoto Line (Tokaido Main Line) during the weekday evening rush hour (approximately 5 PM to 7:30 PM). It shows stopping Special Rapid, Rapid, and Local trains, as well as the Kyoto-bound "Haruka" limited express, and passing through the station: the "Thunderbird" limited express, the Kansai Airport-bound "Haruka," and the 683 series An'nei formation (deadheading). Most limited express trains pass through, but the Kyoto-bound "Haruka" stops at this time. Most "Haruka" trains are unwrapped, but "Hello Kitty Haruka" trains are also used, and some formations consist of both. During this time, about half of the local trains arriving from Osaka terminate at Takatsuki Station. After arriving, they briefly enter the siding on the Kyoto side before reversing and entering the Osaka-bound platform. The outer platforms, 1 and 6, are for express and limited express trains that either pass through or stop. Of the inner island platforms, 2 and 3, and 4 and 5, the innermost platforms, 3 and 4, are for local trains (stopping at every station), while platforms 2 and 5 are for rapid trains (local trains east of Takatsuki).
