I Walked to the End of the World – Camino de Santiago (Ep. 10)
This week on the Camino, I walked to the end of the world. Picking up in Cee after finally reaching the ocean, I thought the hardest part was behind me… but the Camino had a few more surprises. A rough night, a broken shower, and a less-than-memorable meal weren’t exactly how I pictured the final stretch. The next morning, I set out for my last full day of walking — one more coffee, one more pep talk with my shoes, and one more stretch of trail. But this part of the Camino felt different. Walking along the coast, with the ocean beside me and hardly anyone else on the trail, it gave me time to really think about everything this journey has been. What it takes to do something like this — physically, mentally, and just having the time to commit to it. I shared a bit about the gear I’ve been using, talked about how Poppy’s Path came to be, and tried to put into words what this experience has meant to me. And then… I finally made it. Finisterre. The end of the world. Standing there at the edge of the Atlantic, watching the sun go down, it all started to sink in. But even then… it didn’t quite feel over. The next morning, I had one more walk in me — up to the lighthouse, to the 0.0 kilometer marker — the true end of the Camino. After that, it was time to head home. Back through Santiago, on to Madrid, and eventually back to the U.S… where things felt just a little different than when I left. 36 days. Hundreds of miles. And a journey I’ll never forget.
