What Happens When a Coyote Tiptoes to the Fox Den?

Why did the red fox mom den under a house for three years? Predators like coyotes do not get close to homes in the small neighborhood here. I know coyotes sometimes live in cities, but the area on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario is very rural and the coyotes avoid the homes by the lake shore. By denning under one of these homes, the red fox mom protected her puppies from predators like coyotes. These scenes are from when a different mom fox denned in the woods. Unfortunately, she is a single parent. A neighbor found the dad fox shot dead in his yard. The dad fox made it to the neighbor's house, where he lay down and died, sadly. So this mom fox had to raise her 7 puppies by herself. In my last video, mom fox is heard screaming at a coyote by the beaver dam as she was looking for fish. That coyote never approached her den in the neighborhood, so I included this set of videos from my trail camera capturing the coyote as it slowly approaches the den with mom fox and her puppies inside.
