Tim MER-C Saksikan Langsung Eksodus Warga Lebanon Selatan di Tengah Meningkatnya Serangan

Beirut – The Indonesian MER-C team for the Lebanon humanitarian mission witnessed firsthand the exodus of residents from southern Lebanon after the Israeli occupation issued an evacuation order. On June 9, 2026, the MER-C team was heading to the city of Saida in southern Lebanon to distribute bread aid to refugees affected by the Israeli occupation. En route, the team encountered a long traffic jam caused by the heavy traffic of residents leaving southern Lebanon. Team leader, Dr. Tonggo Meaty Fransisca, stated that southern Lebanese residents were leaving in droves using private vehicles. Some residents were even forced to stop and temporarily stay on the side of the road. He explained that residents were trying to flee to Beirut due to the increasing intensity of attacks in southern Lebanon. "Today, residents of southern Lebanon are moving in droves because there has been an order from the Israeli occupation to immediately leave southern Lebanon," he said. The Israel-Lebanon conflict has escalated again since March 2 after increased attacks between Israel and Hezbollah triggered a broader military escalation in southern Lebanon and Beirut. This conflict has had a significant humanitarian impact on the Lebanese people. More than one million people have been displaced, while many homes, schools, hospitals, and civil infrastructure have been damaged. Residents also face limited access to healthcare, housing, and basic necessities due to the deteriorating security situation.
