Police claim the timely arrests may have prevented a major violent crime in the national capital. Two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and a stolen Skoda car were recovered from the accused. Investigators also found that the stolen vehicle was being driven with a fake Uttarakhand registration number to evade police surveillance and mislead investigators. The main accused has been identified as Sonu Choudhary alias Sahil (36), a resident of Hastsal Village in Uttam Nagar. According to Delhi Police records, he is a habitual offender with 12 previous criminal cases, including attempt to murder, kidnapping for carjacking, robbery, theft and offences under the Arms Act. The second accused, Shivender alias Harsh alias Jakee (35), a resident of Sant Nagar, is a listed Bad Character (BC) of Subzi Mandi Police Station in North District. He has a long criminal history with 29 registered cases and is alleged to have supplied both illegal firearms and stolen vehicles to criminals. The operation was carried out under the directions of DCP Dwarka Kushal Pal Singh as part of the district's ongoing "No Guns, No Gangs" campaign. A Special Staff team led by Inspector Kamlesh Kumar had been closely monitoring habitual offenders through technical surveillance, intelligence gathering and analysis of criminal records. During the operation, ASI Vijay Singh received specific intelligence that Sahil, who had earlier been involved in a firing incident in the Palam area over a property dispute, was moving around Dabri in a stolen Skoda car while carrying illegal weapons. Acting swiftly on the information, the police team laid a trap near Kesho Ram Park in Bindapur. After several hours of surveillance using both human intelligence and technical inputs, officers intercepted the suspect. During the search, police recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from his possession. Verification of the Skoda car revealed that it had been stolen from the Maurya Enclave Police Station area in Pitampura, North-West Delhi. Further examination showed that the accused had replaced the original registration with a fake Uttarakhand number plate in an attempt to avoid detection by police and CCTV cameras. Following his arrest, Sahil was taken into police custody for sustained interrogation. During questioning, he disclosed that the stolen Skoda car and the illegal firearm had been arranged by his associate Shivender alias Jakee. Based on this information and further technical surveillance, police conducted a raid in Burari, where Shivender was apprehended. Another country-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Shivender allegedly confessed that he had stolen the Skoda car himself before handing it over to Sahil for criminal use. He further admitted that supplying stolen vehicles and illegal firearms had become an easy source of income for him. The investigation also revealed that in 2023, Sahil came into contact with Vicky alias Sanyasi, a close associate of gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu. Through this connection, he allegedly became part of the gang's criminal network. Police said Sahil was involved in a firing incident in the Palam area, where a woman was allegedly shot at in an attempt to grab possession of a disputed property. He was arrested in that case and later released on bail, after which he allegedly resumed criminal activities. This time, he relied on stolen vehicles, fake registration plates and illegal firearms to stay under the radar until he was intercepted by the Dwarka Special Staff. Shivender's criminal background is equally extensive. Police records show that he has been involved in 29 criminal cases, including theft, robbery, illegal possession of firearms and other serious offences. Despite spending time in jail, he allegedly returned to crime soon after his release and resumed operating a network that supplied stolen vehicles and illegal weapons to criminals. Police have recovered two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and one stolen Skoda car from the accused. A case has been registered at Dabri Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The stolen vehicle has also been linked to an existing theft case registered at Maurya Enclave Police Station.
