Anyone who makes a quick Bolognese is making a mistake. A truly amazing Bolognese needs to simmer for hours so the sweet tomato flavors can fully develop. And the mulled wine makes the flavor absolutely perfect! The Biggernok's 3-Hour Bolognese Secret: 🔪 Preparation is key: Finely chop onions, garlic, carrots, and celery (we use a food processor). 🥩 Brown the ground beef: Brown the ground beef (preferably half beef and half pork) with salt and pepper in a Dutch oven until browned. The fat has to be there, so no reduced-fat stuff! Remove the ground beef afterward. 🥕 Sauté the vegetables: Sauté the chopped vegetable mix, add garlic, then deglaze with red wine/mulled wine and let it reduce slightly. 🍅 The sauce base: Return the ground beef to the pot. Add your best tomato sauce (Mom's!) and passata. Pour in the beef and vegetable stock. ✨ Herbs & simmering: Add fresh (or dried) herbs (marjoram, thyme, oregano). Put it on the grill (or stovetop) and let it simmer for at least 3 hours.
