Sailing with the World’s Biggest Moth Foil! EP6

Fitting the Biggest Moth Foil in History! In this week’s experimental sailing video, I go to the complete opposite end of the hydrofoil spectrum after last week’s attempt with a tiny, high-speed foil. Thanks to the very generous help of Moth guru Amac from KA Sail, I end up with something truly amazing — an experimental, 10+ year old extended Mach2 Large Foil, possibly one of the biggest Moth foils ever made. Armed with a hardware-store angle meter, I fit the giant foil to my $2500 Facebook Marketplace Moth, dial in the angle of attack, and take it to McCrae Yacht Club on Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay to see if it’ll actually fly. The forecast looks terrible — a huge high-pressure system powering across Victoria means the wind is dying fast. I’m up at 6AM, dragging the boat through the bush to find out if this monster foil can lift off before the breeze disappears completely. If you love Moth sailing, experimental hydrofoils, or just watching small boats pushed way beyond their limits, this episode is for you. 🌊 Support the Channel Patreon →  / tomstuchberysailing   Instagram →   / tom.stuchbery.sailing   Ronstan Sailing → https://www.ronstan.com/au Damic Design Deck Grip → https://www.damicdesign.com/deckgrip Norfyx Halyard Reels → https://norfyxtechnology.com/ #sailing #hydrofoil #foiling #diyproject #innovation #boatmods #oceanengineering #adventurebuilds #extremesailing #engineering
