Does the Direct Path Lead to the Pathless Path?

Does the Direct Path naturally lead to the Pathless Path in a way that the Progressive Path does not? Understanding the relationship between these three approaches reveals something essential about the nature of spiritual practice itself. Rupert says: ‘The Direct Path is addressed to King Lear. King Lear investigates who he truly is and will, by definition, end up as John Smith. Self-abidance is the inevitable conclusion of self-inquiry. If King Lear investigates his true nature, he will end up as John Smith abiding as John Smith. ‘The Direct Path does inevitably lead to the Pathless Path. The Progressive Path doesn’t inevitably end up in the Direct Path. You can practice mantra meditation all your life and be taken to your true nature without pausing to ask yourself, what is it that hears the mantra?
