The people of Karagöz (Gurik) Village and surrounding villages in Pülümür district of Dersim province came together to protest against the mining project planned for the region. A statement made on behalf of Karagöz and surrounding villages stated that the project would cause significant damage to nature, agriculture, livestock farming, and the region's way of life.
