Two Gold Mine Tunnels - Goldrush History in Nerrina Ballarat

Exploring though a couple of small gold mine adits (tunnels) in Nerrina near Ballarat in Victoria's Golden Triangle. The bigger of the two adits was a really exciting find for me, two stopes back to back like that is unusual to see. These mines followed gold bearing quartz reefs in a huge lode system with many parallel reefs and leaders carrying gold. Some of this ground was very rich and nuggetty, some very poor. I'd say one of the stopes seen here was fairly rich, if you watch the furthest one in the second adit they dug it out to the finest thread of quartz so it must have been good. A word of warning though, the stoped area in that mine is extremely dangerous, I would strongly recommend NOT going anywhere near it despite how interesting it is.
