Smaragdfieber - Auf Schatzsuche im Habachtal

In this video, we travel to the Habachtal – the only economically significant emerald deposit in Europe. I present my equipment for gemstone prospecting, including a self-built washing sluice. From there, we move into the field. Between steep slopes and boulder fields, we explore the history of these green gemstones and set out in search of them ourselves. Finally, I show the “transformation” of one of the found emeralds on the faceting machine – from rough stone to a sparkling gemstone. -------------- Image credit: Photo: Bruno Mayer – SmaragdbergwerkHabachtal4v4.JPG, CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/ File: SmaragdbergwerkHabachtal4v4.JPG -------------- Maps and satellite imagery: © Google Earth
