One place features Jjamppong with an attractive, rich, and heavy smoky flavor, while the other is a Jjamppong restaurant where people line up to eat, known for its deep and savory broth. Even just looking at the video, you can see that they look completely different. The commonalities between the two are that the ingredients at both places are incredibly fresh, the vegetables are cooked perfectly for a vibrant texture, and they generously pack in plenty of meat and seafood. However, the flavors of these two Jjamppongs diverge completely the moment you take a spoonful. Which one suits your taste? First, let's take a look at the Thai Jjamppong. It is located in Chilgok District 4, across from the Korea Workers' Welfare Corporation Daegu Hospital. Business hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and it is closed every Tuesday. There is also a dedicated parking lot at the back entrance. Actually, I visited this place right after finishing a bowl of Jjamppong at another restaurant that day, but it was so delicious that I ended up finishing the entire bowl here as well. That is how high my satisfaction was. Now, the Jjamppong has finally arrived, everyone. This is exactly the taste you've been looking for. The broth is thick yet rich, with a heavy smoky aroma naturally infused into it. On top of that, it is generously filled with meat, seafood, and various vegetables, making an overwhelming first impression. The broth is quite rich. The heaviness of the smoky aroma, the deep flavor from the meat, the umami of the vegetables and mushrooms, and the refreshing taste of the seafood—all the flavors blend harmoniously to create an addictive broth. The vegetables remained crunchy until the very end, and the noodles were chewy, so the texture was really great. Personally, I found almost nothing to criticize regarding the balance of flavors. The meat-based Jjamppong, with its heavy smoky aroma and rich flavor, is excellent. Since you enjoy spicy styles, I think you will likely share my opinion. If you are looking for this style in Chilgok, I highly recommend giving it a try at least once. Gangdongseong Now, let's head to Gangdongseong, the Jjamppong restaurant in Chilgok that is hard to eat without waiting in line. Parking is available for about 3 cars in front of the restaurant, but if there are no spots, you will need to use the alley parking. The interior features both 4-person tables and seating for solo diners, and you can use the self-service bar for additional side dishes. Business hours are from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and please note that they are open only during lunch hours. Everyone, just look at this portion size. The Sweet and Sour Pork set for one costs 16,500 won, and you get to taste the pork as well as a generous serving of Jjamppong. The value for money is excellent. The Jjamppong has finally arrived. First off, you can see that it is packed with meat, vegetables, and seafood. The ratio of meat to seafood is good, and the noodles and vegetables are cooked perfectly. It is truly packed with ingredients, including wood ear mushrooms, bean sprouts, bok choy, squid, scallops, and shrimp. The broth is deep and rich right from the first sip. However, it lacks the heavy smoky flavor found in Thai Jjamppong, nor is it spicy or overly stimulating. It is a broth where savory richness is felt first, rather than a clear and refreshing taste. It is rich yet savory, and as you eat, it has a mysterious charm that makes you wonder, "What is this broth?" The texture of the noodles and crunchy vegetables was excellent, and after finishing the whole bowl, I was left with a hearty sense of satisfaction. Personally, I enjoyed it, but I felt that this unique broth might be hit or miss depending on personal taste. Nevertheless, what is the secret behind its widespread popularity? The old-fashioned sweet and sour pork ordered along with it was also a great pairing with the Jjamppong. The two Jjamppong dishes introduced today. One place features a Jjamppong with a heavy smoky aroma and a rich, spicy flavor that is its charm. The other place offers a Jjamppong where the appeal of a deep, savory broth comes alive. Although they are both popular Jjamppong restaurants in Chilgok, I felt that their flavor profiles were truly different. Which one would you be more drawn to?
