SPAGN Conference 2026: In the doctor’s shoes: Case discussions
The session, led by Professor Peter Reichardt, gave participants the opportunity to step into the role of clinicians and multidisciplinary tumor board members through an interactive sarcoma case discussion. Using realistic patient scenarios, participants were asked to consider how specialists approach diagnosis, referral, imaging, communication, and treatment decision-making. Discussions focused on the importance of early recognition of potential sarcomas, timely referral to expert centers, the role of MRI and specialist assessment, and the challenges of communicating uncertainty to patients during the diagnostic process. The session provided insight into the complexity of clinical decision-making and highlighted the importance of specialist expertise and multidisciplinary collaboration in achieving the best outcomes for patients.
