Sandy Selsie - A Date With Loneliness (1962)
Sandy was one of Canada's best singers, in my opinion, but she's also one of the most unknown. She has a fantastic Brenda Lee quality to her voice. Charted at #11 on the Canadian CHUM chart in June 1962. "A Date with Loneliness" was a B-side, if you can believe it, but it's one of my very favorite records. The A-side is "The Poorest Girl in Town". Both sides of the single are too good to be B-sides, so they both should have been released as A-sides of separate singles. Original Billboard review: "Sandy Selsie sells this country-pop weeper with feeling and emotion somewhat in the Brenda Lee style. Two impressive sides." Written by Tompall Glaser.
