This video takes you back to Taoyuan in the 1960s–1980s— a time of rapid growth and remarkable transformation. As Taoyuan evolved from an agricultural society into an industrial city, the opening of the international airport, the development of industrial parks, and improved transportation gradually established it as one of northern Taiwan's most important transportation and industrial hubs. Back then, Jingfu Temple remained the spiritual heart of the community. Temple festivals, religious processions, and the grand Fuhai Temple Jiao Festival brought residents together, creating lasting shared memories. Scenes from Zhongzhen New Village, the wholesale produce market, and the iconic female bus conductors captured the authentic rhythm of everyday life in that era. The 1970s also marked many significant milestones for Taoyuan. The public opening of Chiang Kai-shek International Airport (now Taoyuan International Airport) and the government's decision to allow overseas tourism brought the world closer to Taiwan. Meanwhile, Shimen Reservoir, Hutoushan, and the airport itself became enduring symbols of the city's development and growing tourism. This video also reflects another side of Taoyuan's history. From the Zhongli Incident and the Kao-Yin Chemical cadmium pollution protests to the Taoyuan Airport Incident, these historical moments reveal the social changes of the era and remain important chapters in Taoyuan's history. Through AI restoration, colorization, and animation, these precious old photographs come to life once again.
