Outrunning The Blues 2026

This is a Blues - Rock Ballad 2026 remake of our hard rock 2013 song. The lyrics were mine, the music collaborative involving the whole band. A lot of times we just jam a song a number of different ways together before we get a feel for how we want to record it, and often we actually record a few different versions. Lyrics Outrunning the Blues Lyrics Copyright 2012 Morgan St. James, Music copyright 2026 Windlass Productions Verse 1 I've spent my life outrunning the blues Burning up highways in worn-out shoes Fast cars screaming down a blacktop line Leaving old heartaches somewhere behind… Fast women dancing in the neon light Names and faces fading with the night Whiskey glass raised to another excuse I've spent my life outrunning the blues… Chorus Driving fast through the night Chasing the dawn, chasing the light Trying to leave my shadows behind But they ride shotgun every mile I find Morning sun is breaking through I Still can't outrun the truth No matter how hard these wheels roll on The blues are waiting with the morning sun… Verse 2 Every town had a bar and a band A pretty smile and an outstretched hand I'd stay just long enough to feel alive Then hit the road before goodbyes The engine roared like a battle hymn But the silence always settled in No matter how far I'd run and roam The loneliness always was my home… Chorus Driving fast through the night Chasing the dawn, chasing the light Trying to leave my shadows behind But they ride shotgun every mile I find Morning sun breaking through Still I can't outrun the truth No matter how hard these wheels roll on The blues are waiting with the morning sun… Bridge Now the miles are showing on my face And the years ain't slowing down their pace Maybe what I've been running from Is the woman I've been all along… Final Chorus Driving fast through the night Still chasing that first ray of light Some roads can't be denied And some ghosts never leave your side Outro I've spent my life outrunning the blues Fast cars, fast women, whiskey-fueled truths Now the dawn rolls in, soft and strong And I'm still here when the night is gone.
