[다큐3일★풀버전] 도선사부터 해발 836.5m 정상 백운대까지의 거리는 2.1km! 백운대로 가는 길에서 만난 그들의 인생 이야기 (KBS 20080906 방송)
Documentary Day 3: "[People on the 2.1km Trail] Bukhansan Doseonsa Temple - Baekundae 72 Hours" ■ The Road to Baekundae Bukhansan, also known as the lungs of Seoul. Designated Korea's 15th national park in 1983, it's a rare example of a national park located in the heart of the city. This is why it attracts over 10 million hikers annually, earning it a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most visited national park per unit area. Bukhansan, with its three peaks of Baekundae, Insubong, and Mangyeongdae towering above, was formerly called Samgaksan (Three Horned Mountain) for its resemblance to three horns. There are several trails leading to Baekundae, the highest of these three peaks. Of these, the route starting from the entrance to Doseonsa Temple in Ui-dong, Gangbuk-gu, is the shortest. Starting from the trailhead, passing the breathtaking Harujae Pass, passing Baekunsanjang and Wimun, and finally arriving at Baekundae, the 2.1km journey is truly remarkable! From families on a leisurely hike to couples, clubs, and hikers from out of town, countless people climb this path. ■ People Walking the Rocky Path On a rainy morning, a family from the mountaineering school prepares for rock climbing on the road to Baekundae. Starting with the son, the family takes turns climbing, followed by the mother, daughter, and finally the father. Despite a few slips in the rain, they continue their climb, cautiously taking each step up the Insubong Rocky Path. Insubong, Korea's most iconic rock formation, is a hugely popular destination for rock climbers. Climbers come from as far away as Seoul, Ulsan, and Tongyeong to climb the walls. The diverse rocky paths, from beginners to the most skilled experts, offer a variety of climbs. This rocky path, requiring climbing up the mountain path and then climbing again while relying on ropes, holds a significant meaning for them. ■ Life Stories of People I Met on the Road ▶ 33 Years of Hiking Home "I left Dongju, North Pyongan Province, during the Korean War because I was a displaced person. I worked hard, thinking I needed to be healthy to go home." Grandfather Choi Gye-hwa A man climbs a mountain, wearing a long white beard like Santa Claus, a Red Devils T-shirt, red shorts, and sunglasses. This is 79-year-old Choi Gye-hwa. Since the 2002 World Cup, he has been climbing Bukhansan Mountain three times a week, rain or shine, wearing the same outfit. It's been 33 years since he started climbing for his health. A longing for a hometown he can't visit, even if he wants to, drives this nearly eighty-year-old man to embark on this journey. ▶ Grandmother Who Has Maintained Baekun Mountain Lodge for Three Generations "Even now, I have no desire to go back. "It's where I used to live... Even if I go to the city, I want to come back quickly, just like home. That's the thought I have when I come here." Grandmother Kim Geum-ja of Baekun Mountain Lodge Baekun Mountain Lodge, a final rest stop before heading to Baekundae. Grandmother Kim Geum-ja and her husband have been maintaining this mountain lodge for three generations, dating back to the Japanese colonial period. She always greets hikers passing by from the same spot and guards the mountain path. She's been living here since she got married, and it's been 45 years. Except for when she had a baby, she's never left the mountain lodge. On days of heavy snow, Grandmother Kim and her husband would tie up their five children and send them to school at the foot of the mountain. They even narrowly saved a hiker who nearly froze to death. These 45 years of mountain living have been full of ups and downs, but the memories of those years spent interacting with hikers coming and going from the mountain lodge are memories that will last a lifetime. Her only hope for the future is to continue guarding this path, just as she does now. ▶ A 50-Year-Old's Desire to Reach the Top "If I'd had a stable business, I would have built a solid foundation by now. But my adventurous spirit led me to three failures. I want to try another business that would put me at the top." Cho Seong-hwan, 52 There's a man in his 50s sitting on a hiking trail, gazing at Insubong Peak. Cho Seong-hwan, who has experienced three business failures, reflects on his own risk-taking in business as he watches the rock climbers. Despite the failures, Cho Seong-hwan says he has no regrets, as each success stems from his choice to challenge himself rather than settle for the status quo. He finds the courage to challenge himself again by learning from those who have taken on a more arduous climb than he has. ▶ Hiking with Broken Legs "It was the third time... I fell a bit. Accidents are inevitable when you're hiking." Shim Gwang-seop, 45 The trail is dark. Someone climbs the mountain, lit by a dim light. Mr. Sim Gwang-seop climbs a mountain with the support of two crutches. Seven months ago, he fell from the mountain and fractured both his legs. This was his third...
