This was the next stop on our trip through Patagonia, and although this is a destination we've been to before, we still have plenty of things left to do, which is always a good reason to return. In this video, we'll share our stay at Hostería El Coirón. We'll visit Laguna Willmanco by bike, go horseback riding through the Huemules Mountain Reserve, and also hike through Los Alerces National Park. We invite you to join us! We chose the inn's 🚲 free options → 4km uphill to the outskirts of Esquel. We crossed the "Río de los Bandidos" and the white gate of the trail. Short hike: 3.8km between cows, willows, and lavender-colored mountains. Arrival at Laguna Willmanco: crystal-clear water, no tourists, 360° views. Downhill return just before the rain. 🍝 Late lunch We look for a new restaurant (closed) → Plan B: Don Chiquino (downtown). Ricotta, walnut, and pine mushroom sorrentinos with puttanesca sauce 🌶️. Dulce leche bomb dessert. 🌧️ Spa Time Rainy afternoon = Jacuzzi reservation + 70°C sauna at El Coirón. Happy muscles after biking + hiking. 📍 Day 2 – “LaCascada” Urban Reserve Light hike among yellow leaves 🍂 and viewpoint with a panoramic view of Esquel. Hidden waterfall (you can hear it before you can see it). 🐎 Horseback Riding in Huemules Sister property of the inn (formerly a glamping site). Poncho horse + black volcanic sand trail. Colorful viewpoint: red forest, turquoise lake, and snow-capped peaks. Picnic of sandwiches and chips with a picture-perfect view. 🚗 Afternoon in Los Alerces National Park We drove to the new campsite on the Arrayanes River. Sunset without crowds: trout visible in emerald-green water. 🛌 Where we slept Hostería ElCoirón – Double rooms, dry sauna, jacuzzi, FREE bikes, buffet breakfast. 🍽️ Where we ate Don Chiquino – homemade pasta, sorrentinos, and pine mushrooms. Picnic Huemules – quick sandwich shop with premium scenery. 🔑 Logistical Tips Bikes + helmets included for guests (check tire pressure 😉). The climb to Laguna Willmanco is challenging; the return is all downhill! Reserve a hot tub as soon as you arrive; seating is limited.
