In this video, we share with you our first day in Esquel, Chubut. First of all: food! After arriving at our accommodation, we went out in search of lunch. Someone recommended Parrilla de Maria, so we went there for lunch and ordered a chorizo ​​steak, a flank steak, a full salad, and red wine. Everything was delicious! Then, in the afternoon, we went to visit Laguna La Zeta and arrived just in time! It was about a 5km walk on a fairly steep path, but we found beautiful views of the lagoon during the sunset. For those planning to visit, we recommend taking a car or taxi and then walking back to town to enjoy the scenery and the mountains! That was our first day in Esquel. We spent 8 nights in this town, so we'll see you soon with more trips around these parts. 🏔️🥩 Day One in Esquel: Parrilla, Hike to Laguna La Zeta, and Sunset Picnic | 🇦🇷🍷 #TravelPatagonia 🌄 Welcome and First Impressions of Esquel We start the video with our early arrival in Esquel, Chubut, Argentina, at 6:30 a.m., somewhat disoriented but excited to begin our 8-night stay in this corner of Patagonia. Many adventures await us: the famous Trochita (the Patagonian train), excursions to Los Alerces National Park, visits to Welsh towns like Trevelin, and, of course, days spent enjoying nature and the mountains. 😺 Our Feline Friend and María's Grill Before leaving, we encounter our first surprise: a cat enters the cabin! We take advantage of the fact that we already have cat food, so maybe we'll have a new regular visitor during these days. The first gastronomic mission is clear: have a grilled lunch. We went to the highly recommended Parrilla de María, where we ordered chorizo ​​steak and flank steak, accompanied by a colorful beet, carrot, and egg salad. A basket of bread also arrived with a delicious lentil and mayonnaise pasta, perfect for snacking while we waited for the meat. All of this, of course, was washed down with the house red wine, intense and perfect for the Argentine asado. We highly recommend the tableside grill, which allows the meat to be cooked to perfection. The juicy chorizo ​​steak, the flavorful flank steak, and the classic chimichurri were the absolute stars. Final price for lunch: 1,150 pesos (approx. 29 USD) for two people, including wine, bread, salad, and two cuts of meat. We left more than satisfied! 🗺️ Tourist Office, Tours and Hike to La Zeta Lagoon After lunch, we headed to the tourist office to arrange future excursions: a catamaran ride through Los Alerces National Park, a train ride on La Trochita, and a trip to Trevelin. However, we forgot about the Patagonian siesta and found everything closed, so we left the arrangements for later. We decided to take advantage of the afternoon and hike to La Zeta Lagoon, walking through the forest and leaving the noise of the cars behind. The dirt trail, lined with people carrying kayaks and enjoying nature, immersed us in the Patagonian atmosphere. We chose to take a shortcut down, enjoying the tranquility, the greenery, and the fresh mountain air. 🧀🍷 Patagonian Picnic and Relaxation at the Cabin On our way back, we set up an outdoor picnic on the cabin patio. We present our selection: apple, bell pepper, green pepper, olives, walnuts, crackers, salami, cheese, banana, almonds, and sunflower seeds, accompanied by a new Malbec red wine, "Los Haroldos," smooth and delicious. We greet the cat, who joins the gathering, waiting for his bite. 📅 Preparations and Plans for the Coming Days The video closes with the expectation of new adventures: tours through Patagonia, train rides, unique landscapes, and more regional cuisine.
