Locomotive consist: CN M311: CN 2236: GE ES44DC - New Cast P5. CN 5773: EMD SD75I. CN Q118 (now Q104): CN 3130 (ex-GECX 2041): GE ET44AC - Raised Letter K5HL. CN 2970: GE ES44AC. This crossing is located on the CN Yale Subdivision. Bell Sequence: Bell rings through whole activation. Horn Setting: Horn Zone. Siemens WT/F cantilever on the left: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs. Gated mast on the left: A Safetran Base, a Siemens Gate Mechanism with RECO LED gate lights and 1 pair of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs. Gated mast on the right: A Safetran Base, a Siemens Gate Mechanism with RECO LED gate lights, 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs and a Low-Tone Siemens E-Bell. After a while of waiting, I saw CN Q118 (now Q104) depart the CN Intermodal Terminal located on the east end of the Thornton Yard, so I want back and started recording. To my surprise, CN M311 was also coming, and it came through first with a decent consist! After that train passed, CN Q118 made its way through the crossing slowly with a rather boring consist, being an ET44AC and an ES44AC. Though what made it interesting, is the fact that CN 3130 is one of the former GECX prototype Tier 4 "EF44AC" GEVOs that became part of the CN roster, and were converted into standard ET44ACs! However, two slightly noticeable differences between a regular CN ET44AC and a converted GECX EF44AC one is that a converted has a slightly longer front end, and the side shades are painted red on a converted GECX EF44AC one compared to a regular CN ET44AC, which are black. This crossing is a pretty boring mid-late 2010s CN install, being the equipment here is Siemens. These signals replaced a pair of 1970s CN gated signals, with what you would expect from that era. The signals remained unchanged until the 2000s, when the original gate arms were replaced with a pair of newer-striped gate arms with RECO LED gate lights, the original Safetran 8" Incandescent lights were replaced with Safetran 12x20" Dialight Ball LED lights, and the original Safetran Mechanical Bell was replaced with a General Signals Type-2 E-Bell. Between 2009 and 2011, the Dailight Ball LED inserts in the Safetran 12x20" lights were replaced with GE Uniform Look LED inserts. Around 2017, those signals were replaced with the current signals.
