Bell sequence: Bells ring through whole activation. Horn setting: Quiet zone. Safetran cantilever on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with Electro-Tech LEDs. Gate mast on the left: A Safetran base, a Safetran gate mechanism with Alstom-Aurora LED gate lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x20" lights with Electro-Tech LEDs and a WCH electronic bell. Signal on the right: A Safetran base, a Safetran gate mechanism with Alstom-Aurora LED gate lights, 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with Electro-Tech LEDs and a WCH electronic bell. After catching an eastbound grain train at SE 10th Street in the same town, I headed over to this crossing to see if there was another train set to come through. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait long, as I soon heard the horn of a westbound coming in from the next crossing over. The crossing activated, and this westbound UP manifest came rolling through with a trio of rebuilt AC4460CWs, a couple AC4400CWs, and an AC45CCTE GEVO. This crossing is a pretty nice one, like most in Pendleton. It features some old Safetran signals installed by UP around the mid-1970s. Since then, the lights were retrofitted with the current Electro-Tech LED inserts in the late 2000s/early 2010s, and the original Safetran mechanical bells were replaced with the current WCH E-Bell sometime in the 2000s.
