The vehicles must be used only for authorised official duties and cannot be treated as personal cars by legislators or their associates. Under the New Vehicle Rules for Karnataka MLAs, government vehicles should not be used for private programmes, family travel, personal errands or purposes unrelated to legislative work. Vehicles should also not be handed over to unauthorised individuals. Details such as the purpose of travel, destination, distance covered and the authorised user may be recorded to ensure accountability. ರಾಜ್ಯದ 224 ಶಾಸಕರಿಗೂ ಅನ್ವಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ವಾಹನ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಪಾಲಿಸಲು ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಲಯ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಶಾಸಕರ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ವಾಹನಗಳನ್ನು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಕೆಲಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿದರೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ವೆಚ್ಚವನ್ನು ವಸೂಲಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯಿದೆ. ಚಾಲಕರು ಕೂಡ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಅನುಮತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ವಾಹನ ಹೊರಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
