WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY: Daryl Rebuilds the Wespe Cooling System (Kurt Gets in the Way)
This week on Workshop Wednesday, Daryl takes on the Wespe's cooling system — fitting internal bulkheads, the radiator fan, brake dust extraction pipes and the beautifully refurbished radiator. Kurt steps in front of the camera to lend a hand at the start, and it quickly becomes clear why he usually stays behind it. A fun and informative episode covering systems that rarely get screen time but are absolutely critical to keeping a WWII self-propelled gun running. The Wespe (German for "Wasp") was a self-propelled artillery piece built on the Panzer II chassis and armed with a 105mm leFH 18 howitzer, serving on every major front of the Second World War. TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – Intro/Recap 02:03 – Installing the Bulkhead 05:43 – Installing the Radiator Fan 13:29 – Brake Dust Extractor 14:22 – How did this originally fit? 15:55 – Kurt accepts defeat 17:34 – New pipe, old pipe 24:10 – Installing the refurbished radiator 🎥 Videography and editing by Ella from AusArmour The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum is home to the largest collection of armoured vehicles and artillery in the Southern Hemisphere, located in Cairns, North Queensland.
