Portobello Buses | September 2025

A video showing buses in Portobello (south inner-city Dublin), recorded in September 2025. Portobello is located in Dublin's south inner-cty. To the south of it is the Grand Canal. Along the eastern edge is the main route south through Rathmines [   • Rathmines Buses | May 2024  ], while on the western edge is the main route south through Harold's Cross [   • Harold's Cross Buses | June 2025  ]. Passing through in an east-west direction is the South Circular Road [   • South Circular Road Buses | October 2022  ]. All three of these main corridors are well served by bus routes. This video was recorded about a month before the F-Spine changes under Bus Connects were implemented, which saw the end of number of Portobello routes. These include routes 9, 83 & 83A [   • Routes 9, 83 & 83A | Dublin Bus | 2025  ], 49 & 54A [   • Routes 49 & 54A | Dublin Bus | 2025  ] and route 140 [   • Routes 40, 40B & 140 | Dublin Bus | 2025  ]. All of these routes feature here, before they were replaced, as well as some buses being used for driver training for the new F-Spine routes. Apart from these routes undergoing a major change, Portobello is also served by a large number of other routes operated by Dublin Bus, providing connections all around the city (and even beyond). One of these is route 16 which serves Dublin Airport, but Portobello is also served by Dublin Express route 783 which also serves the airport. Whereas Dublin Bus use a variety of vehicles on route 16 (from Enviro 400 to Wrights Gemini), Dublin Express uses coaches. In general, Dublin Bus operate a mixture of vehicles on all routes in Portobello, from the older EV Class (Enviro 400) to the newer EW Class (Wrights Electroliner), with GT / SG Class (Wrights Gemini) and PA Class (Enviro 400ER) in between. Unlike the last visit three years ago [   • Portobello Buses | August 2022  ], this was recorded on a very wet day, which may impact the quality of the footage.
