Drumcondra Buses | August 2025

A video showing buses in Drumcondra (north inner-city Dublin), recorded in August 2025. Drumcondra is located just north of Dublin's inner-city. It is bounded to the south by the Royal Canal, to the west by Glasnevin [   • Glasnevin Buses | October 2024  ], to the north by Griffith Avenue, and to the east by Marino [   • Marino Buses | January 2024  ]. It is located on the main road heading north out of the city towards Dublin Airport, Swords and eventually Belfast. As a result it is one of the main corridors in the city for a variety of bus services. Dublin Bus is the main operator in the area, providing the city services. The southern edge of Drumcondra, along Whitowrth Road, is served by routes 40 and 40D which operate to Finglas and beyond to parts of north-west Dublin. This is due to become the route of the F-Spine under Bus Connects later this year. Just south of Drumcondra Station, these routes join the Drumcondra Road which is served by the rest of the bus routes. Four routes along here serve Swords (33, 41, 41B and 41C) with the 33 continuing on to Skerries and Balbriggan. Routes 16 and 19 serve Dublin Airport, as does route 41. Route 1 [   • Route 1 | Dublin Bus | August 2025  ] is a short route that only runs between Santry and the city centre, while the 44 is a cross-city route that reaches as far south as Enniskerry. Aircoach [   • Aircoach | Ireland | 2024  ] use Drumcondra as the routing for its main routes from the Airport to the city centre. For regional routes to Balbriggan, Drogheda and Dundalk it is used by Bus Eireann and Matthews. Both Aircoach and Matthews are owned by First Bus. Bus Eireann long-distance routes also pass through Drumcondra, as do the services of Wexford Bus. All-in-all, Drumcondra is a very busy part of Dublin for bus services.
