How to dye test cylinder heads for cracks: It WORKS!

This video shows step by step instructions on how to do an at home crack check on cylinder heads by using a penetrant dye test. We are doing a budget 302 build for a '72 F100. We had a set of GT40P heads from a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer with the 5.0 engine. We needed to find out if these heads were any good before we started buying parts and building this engine. We used an at-home method to save us a few hundred dollars at the local machine shop to determine that these heads were indeed cracked, unfortunately! We also used this same method to check the block, Luckily, the block checked out A-OK!
