We share some of our favorite project totes; learn how to crochet a boho-inspired purse and knit a felted cary-all made unique with different hardware and straps. First up, we meet this week’s Knit Hive, and talk about a few indie brands of bags in the popular, see-through panel style. Then, we’re in the studio with our first guest The Crochet Dude, Drew Emborsky. Drew shares why he loves designing handbags, then shows us how to crochet a Boho-Style Purse. We step away from the studio for a bit to tour Independence Farmstead Mill in Brenham, Texas. Owner, Dawn Brown takes Vickie through the entire process -- from sheep to skein -- of making artisanal yarn. Next we’re back in the studio with knitter and literal rockstar, Kelley Deal (The Breeders/R.Ring). Kelley tells her story of learning to knit while on tour, what knitting’s meant to her, and how some of her fan’s have acknowledged her love of yarn. Then, she shows us the steps to make her popular, felted Road Bag which can be customized with different hardware. We end the episode with a Vic’s Tip, in which we get a handle on an unexpected use for Jumbo Birch knitting needles!
