Val VENZONASSA - Val RESIA - M.ga Confin, CAI 726, Forcella Campidello, La Forchia, CAI 703, Tigo

Today's itinerary will lead us to discover some truly spectacular, sometimes wild, trails in a mountainous area connecting two splendid valleys: Val Venzonassa and Val Resia. We begin in the picturesque village of Venzone and ascend the valley along the road that runs alongside the Venzonassa stream, from which the valley itself takes its name. The steep, cemented ramps are immediately challenging, but every effort is rewarded by the expansive views that open up over the valley below. At a certain point, we turn north to reach Malga Confin, immersed in a truly iconic landscape. After a short break, we continue through a beech forest and then onto a steep clearing dotted with mountain pines: here, there are alternating sections that are suitable for cycling, others that require pushing, and a few that require shouldering, until we reach Forca Campidello, the pass that separates the two valleys and offers breathtaking views of the Canin and Montasio mountains. From here, the first descent begins, along CAI trail 726, immersed in a wild and rarely visited environment, until reaching the wide and uneven Rio Nero riverbed. After crossing, another climb takes us to La Forchia, the connection between the Rio Nero valley and the Resia Valley. The next trail, initially more technical, then flows quickly and funly through a large beech forest to Lischiazze, and from there to the Casere Gost huts. A final short single trail takes us to Tigo, in the heart of the Resia Valley. From here, all that remains is to follow the new Resia Valley cycle path to Povici, and then, via the Alpe Adria cycle path, return to Venzone, the end point of our itinerary.
