Welcome to The Voice That Accompanies. Today I want to invite you to a meditation I've titled "On the Banks of the River of Your Mind." Sometimes we feel like our thoughts are sweeping us away like a current… and that emotions come and go without asking permission. But mindfulness reminds us of something very simple and very liberating: "You are not what passes through your mind… you are the presence that observes it." In this practice, we're going to train that serene gaze, learning to contemplate thoughts, emotions, and sensations as if they were "leaves floating and passing" by the river. We're not going to chase them, push them, or judge them. We're simply going to breathe… and stay on the bank, in that inner place where everything can move without you getting lost. Find a comfortable position, allow your breath to become gentle, and come with me… to the banks of the river of your mind.
