MEDRA by Tanith Lee
Originally published in the June 1984 issue of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction magazine. The very next year saw a German version of the same, as well as inclusion in Donald Wollheim's anthology, The 1985 Annual World's Best SF. In 1986, it appeared in a collection of the author's tales entitled Dreams of Dark and Light: The Great Short Fiction of Tanith Lee. Almost two decades later, it returned to print with a French collection simply called Tanith Lee in 2004. A decade later, we find it in another collection, this one called Dancing Through the Fire: A Collection of Stories in Five Moves. Then, in 2017, another called Tanith by Choice. Read by Darrell T. Smith II for my channel Quasar Spectra. Support me with a contribution: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?busine... Buy Dancing Through the Fire: https://www.amazon.com/Dancing-Throug...
