Masonry Hammer Restoration

Masonry Hammer, 18 Ounce, Made is USA A Masonry hammer, also called a stone mason’s hammer or a brick hammer, has a squared flat face and a chisel-shaped blade. It is used to chip off edges or small pieces of stone, cut brick or cinder blocks, without the need for a separate chisel. Geologist use a very similar style of hammer to crack open rocks. The hammer featured in this video was found at a flea market in north Alabama and cost $10 including a replacement hickory handle. I used this old rusty hammer head to learn how to use a new angle grinder. Estimated time to restore this old tool is about 6 hours but capturing video certainly slows the process. All video was captured using an iPhone 8 Plus and edited with an iMac with iMovie and Photoshop.
