Atma Bodha 39 (Verses 66) : Threefold Technique

Ignorance manifests in three phases—I don’t know, I don’t understand, I don’t experience. Vedanta prescribes the traditional processes of Shravana, Manana, and Nididhyasana as the respective antidotes to these three phases. Shravana is listening to the scriptures from a teacher. Manana is reflection, the process by which external knowledge is converted into intellectual understanding and conviction. Nididhyasana consolidates inner wisdom through meditation so that you experience Reality firsthand. The traditional method of extracting pure gold from ore involves grinding, sieving/washing, and smelting. Hence, the analogy of gold seems to correspond to the Vedantic process of ‘extracting’ the pure Self. Gurukripa-Vedanta Youtube channel is dedicated to expounding the timeless philosophy of Vedanta.
