The crime occurred in March 2025, inside a motel in the Águas Lindas neighborhood, in Ananindeua (PA). According to the prosecution, the defendant killed the victim with knife blows after an argument motivated by the refusal to pay the agreed amount for a meeting. Security cameras recorded the two entering the motel and, hours later, only the accused leaving the room, injured. Paola was found dead in the bathroom. After the crime, Yago was taken to the Metropolitan Emergency and Urgency Hospital (HMUE), where he remained under police custody, but managed to escape. Days later, he was located at a relative's house. The trial lasted approximately 14 hours and was attended by family and friends of the victim, who asked for justice throughout the session. Although the Public Prosecutor's Office brought the defendant to trial for femicide, the Jury Council recognized the practice of simple homicide, setting the sentence at 12 years and 10 months of imprisonment. The defense argued that there was a physical struggle and reciprocal injuries between the defendant and the victim, alleging self-defense, a thesis that was not fully accepted by the Jury.
