Boston's Shipyard Shortline: The Fore River Railroad, plus Mass Coastal, and 150 MPH Acela!
It's July 30th, 2024 and I'm leaving the city of Boston, bound for Quincy. I'm visiting the Fore River Railroad along with some friends, and later on we head to the Mass Coastal and Northeast Corridor for MBTA and fast Amtrak/Acela. The Fore River Railroad is a 2.7 mile long shortline operating primarily within the Quincy shipyard, with historic ex-Conrail GE Dash 7 locomotives. My story on the Fore River is in the November 2024 RailPace Magazine. We also take a quick look at the brand-new East Taunton station, part of the South Coast Rail project. Locations: Boston, MA Auburndale, MA Quincy, MA Braintree, MA Taunton, MA Mansfield, MA Thanks for watching!
