Estafa en el Banco Metropolitano de Cuba: denuncia de una familia

A young Cuban woman, identified as Dianeli Hurtado, made a public complaint that went viral on social media: her father was the victim of fraud at the Banco Metropolitano branch located in Ciudad Deportiva, Cerro municipality, Havana. According to her account, in 2021, the man deposited his savings in dollars at that bank. Years later, when checking the balance, the family discovered a huge shortfall: the money had disappeared without any official explanation. What makes the case worse, according to the complaint, is the attitude of the bank's employees and managers: they have been going to the branch for 20 consecutive days without receiving any answers, they are being denied the original documents signed at the time of the deposit, and the employees involved refuse to identify themselves. The family alleges that the bank's management is protecting those responsible, preventing the victim from even proving that the money ever existed in the account. The host of the program that broadcasts the case contextualizes the situation within a broader pattern: state inspectors confiscating cash from private businesses, pensions paid via transfers to nonexistent accounts, and a banking system that, in his view, operates as a tool of dispossession against the Cuban population.
