How To Make Homemade Hummus

Growing up in an Armenian family we always had hummus in our fridge. This is still a staple in my household, and I try to make my own as often as I can. This is very customizable and can be made in a variety of ways. In this video I make roasted red pepper hummus. Recipe: 1 Can of Chickpeas (15oz) ¼ Cup Tahini 1 Large Lemon (Or Roughly ¼ Cup of Lemon Juice) 1 Large Garlic Clove (Minced) 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil Cumin Salt For Red Pepper Hummus 1 Roasted Red Pepper (Chopped) Smoked Paprika 1. Start by rinsing and peeling your chickpeas. 2. Add tahini and lemon juice to the blender and blend for 1 minute. 3. Scrape the sides of the blender and blend for another 30 seconds. 4. Add olive oil, garlic, cumin, salt, (and smoked paprika if making red pepper hummus) to the blender and blend another 30 seconds. 5. Scrape down the sides again and add half the chickpeas to the blender. Blend for 1 minute. 6. Scrape down the sides and add the rest of the chickpeas. Blend for 1 minute. Check and blend more if needed. 7. Once smooth add your toppings (such as roasted red pepper) and blend again for 30 seconds. If not including a topping, add a Tbsp of water and blend for 30 seconds. Repeat the process until the hummus is the correct texture. 8. Chill the hummus in the fridge for 1 hour. #recipe #hummus #homemadefood #food
